Skiing, Snow Boarding & Tubing

There are a huge variety of places to ski, snowboard or tube in the Northeast whether you want to go for the day, for the weekend or longer.

Unless otherwise stated, all resorts have lessons for adults and children, both private and group.  Some resorts also have childcare facilities, either morning, afternoon or all day, plus special ski-clubs for kids.  Most places also have floodlit evening skiing until 10pm. Check websites or call before you go for up-to-date conditions and hours of operation.

 

Thunder Ridge, Patterson, NY

Small hill, 9 lifts/drags, 600ft vertical drop, family run resort.  Good for children and beginners.

Day care on site.  Special mid-week packages and rates.

 

Mount Peter, Warwick, NY

3 lifts, 10 trails, 400ft vertical drop.  Free beginner lessons.

Jiminy Peak, Massachusetts

8 lifts, 43 trails, 1140ft vertical drop, good skiing for all abilities.

 

Camelback, Poconos, Pennsylvania

13 lifts, 33 trails, 800ft vertical drop, tubing.

 

Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania

As well as Camelback, which is the biggest resort, the Poconos also offer Alpine Mountain, Blue Mountain, Jack Frost, Big Boulder and Shawnee.

 

Butternut, Great Barrington, Massachusetts

10 lifts, 22 trails, 1000ft vertical drop, good skiing for all abilities, tubing.  Great ski-school for the kids and European feel.

 

Mount Snow, Southern Vermont
