A Taste of Britain

There are lots of great shops in Manhattan stocking British products for the homesick. Closer to home the Super Stop & Shops at Port Chester, Mamaroneck and White Plains both have a great range of imported goodies including Heinz Baked Beans, PG Tips, Heinz Tomato Soup, Fruit Squash, McVities biscuits, Cadbury’s chocolate and lots more.

 

Post Road Market at 1000 Boston Post Road in Rye also has a good range and is particularly good for seasonal produce such as Christmas puds, mince pies, Easter eggs, etc.

 

The Woodlawn area of the Bronx has some great Irish shops and is only 15-20 minutes away, this side of the Bronx Zoo.  Try Prime Cuts Irish Butcher Store, 4338 Katonah Avenue, Woodlawn, Bronx.  They only have a small butcher display counter, so make sure you ask for any particular cuts of meat you want - great lamb chops, cutlets and sausages, plus Cadbury’s chocolate!!

The Elmsford store also has a world market section where you can pick up lots of goodies from around the world, including Cadburys, curry mixes, sweets, and lots more.

 

THE BUTCHER'S FANCY - 961 McClean Avenue, Yonkers

Best known for Irish and English delicacies, the store sells homemade sausages, rashers, pudding, corned beef, boiling bacon and sausage rolls.  It also offers a wide selection of Irish and English products.

If you want a whole store of British products to choose from, this is the place.  They stock a fantastic range of food and drinks and even hard to find toiletries, medicines and household goods.  Specialities include Cumberland (and other flavour) sausages and pork pies made daily on the premises.
